Here’s a FREE TRAINING TIP

Training Tip

Training Tip: So you want to grow your calves? You doing 1000 calf raises a week in the gym and yet those punies are still, well… puny.

Firstly, know that they ARE tough to grow, its not just a YOU thing, it’s a legit thing.  You see your calf muscles remain in EXTENSION for most of the day, so it is hard to challenge them in this range when they are in this range predominantly.

Training Tip

When we talking about our calves, we really talking about our Gastroc, which is the big chunky one and the soleus underneath. The Gastroc and Soleus mainly work in plantar flexion.

  1. Firstly, if you’re doing a standing calf raise make sure that your CORE is BRACED by depressing your rib cage because a braced core will minimize hip movement..
  2. Set up so your big toe and your pinky toe are on a platform and your heels are below your toes off the platform.  You want to drive the ankle joint forward don’t just think about driving upwards.
  3. Make sure you not bouncing through the movement because that really just puts emphasis on the connective tissue so keep it slow and controlled.

And that is the best way to set up and train your calves. Get more training tips below.
